Eric’s LUXList Picks
PAIR OF ART MODERNE STYLE MOUVE COLOR GLASS TWO LIGHT LAMP
Describe your design aesthetic in a few words?
Classicism wrapped in a veneer of modernity. In my aesthetic the past is prologue, yet one that is always receptive to new ideas, but not trends.
What do you love about using antiques in your designs?
Antiques become the soul of a room. They link the past to the present and are a timeless inspiration.
What inspires you?
What inspires me are the simple things. Like the way, the sun casts shadows on a tree branch, the patterns that the rising tide creates on a beach. The violet hour; the magical hour of the day that is about a half hour before sunset when everything congeals to look its absolute best. Nature is my inspiration and the world around me.
What is your ultimate design tip?
Create layers then edit, edit, edit! I was taught this by my grandmother who has the most impeccable taste of anyone that I have ever known.
What is your favorite LUXList piece? How would you use it?
I prefer furniture with attitude and style, especially Gustavian, and this commode packs a wallop; from the pharaonic heads to the superb pulls, down to the gilded paw feet. The chest would look perfect in an entry foyer or as a bar in a living room or library.
