O. Winston Link, Old Maud Bows to the Virginia Creeper, Green Cove, Virginia, October 1956. Gelatin-silver photograph printed in 1996 from the 1956 negative. Signed, dated, and annotated by the artist on the reverse in pencil. Image: 15.5 inches x 19.5 inches. Sheet: 16 inches x 20 inches. Excellent condition.

Winston Link's iconic photographs of steam engines along the Norfolk and Western railway taken during the late 1950's mark the end of an era in America. These 'fading giants' were gradually replaced by diesel and electric engines by the early 1960's. Link's work can be found in museum collections throughout the world. He is the only photographer in the United States to have a museum devoted to his work. Learn more about the unique work of Ogle Winston Link and the Link Museum.
