18th Century Transitional Louis XV to Louis XVI Marquetry Marble Topped Commode-This very fine formal transitional commode is of the period circa 1770 is crafted from oak secondary woods with tulip wood, king wood and satin wood veneers. The break front form is enlivened with good quality ormolu mounts which are original and the chest is topped with its original shaped mottled grey and white marble top. The overall impression is one of a rich symmetrical design decorated with gilded floral and ribbon mounts and small flower head pen work designs at the corners of the drawer sections. The chest has 5 drawers three at the top white two larger ones under that while it is crafted to seem to have three drawers. Of excellent quality and in exceptional condition with a new French polish and all mounts clean with working locks and key
