Elegant Italian side table in red cedar wood attributed to Gio Ponti, most likely manufactured by Domus Nova for the 'La Rinascente' department store. From 1928 on La Rinascente sold furniture designed by Gio Ponti and Emilio Lancia under the brand name ‘Domus Nova’ This range was designed to renew the image of the bourgeois home and décor in Italy. The intention was, 'to provide furniture with simple shapes for a modest price, but tasteful and studied in detail.' Period: 1930-1939. Excellent condition, wear consistent with age and use.
