Luxury Design, Past & Present
Josef Hoffmann was, without a doubt, one of the most important designers of the Wiener Werkstätte. Mostly during phases of intense inspiration through colleagues, Hoffmann understood like no one else to apply an ornament designed by him to various objects of art without seeming unimaginative or uninnovative. Through this talent, different items came into being which may show very similar ornaments but display a completely different general appearance, mostly due to their purpose of usage. The design of this lamp was drafted in a time of tight cooperation between Josef Hoffmann and Dagobert Peche. While the form and ornament show obvious signs of Peches work and influence, Hoffmanns own genius cannot be missed by the beholder. Lamps designed by Josef Hoffmann are a rare sight on the market and are highly asked for by collectors all over the world.
