Luxury Design, Past & Present
The centerpieces made by the Wiener Werkstatte were one of the most popular objects and the flagship of the enterprise. Many designs were made by the famous viennese architect Josef Hoffmann, also this particular design shows many typical style elements of Hoffmann. It was made after a blueprint that Hoffmann drew in the early twenties. The signs on the bowl are the symbols of the planets of our stelar system. According to the hallmarks we can date this object between 1922 and 1933. The whole centerpiece shows a very delicately crafted „Hammerschlagdekor“ and is fully marked. The impressive, reduced shaped combined with the delicate ornamentics surrounding the whole object make this piece a wonderfull addition to every collection.
The blueprint can still be found in the archive of the Wiener Werkstatte under the number KI - 11997-14
