Luxury Design, Past & Present
Starting in the 30s, the Werkstatte Hagenauer produced objects with African backgrounds. In the 50s, these objects experienced a revival and for the first time, male African sculptures were displayed and the product range of animals was widened. This beautiful sculpture of an African woman dates back to this time around 1950. The elegant pose along with a strict formal reduction and the usage of carved precious wood is a clear example of the works of the Werkstatte Hagenauer. This design rates amongst the most important figurines by the Hagenauer brothers after the Second World War and is a clear continuation of the unmistakeable style of the Viennese art workshop.
