Gustav Siegel was an important representative of the Austrians Jugendstil furniture design and architects in Vienna. He attended the Kunstgewerbeschule Vienna where Josef Hoffmann was his teacher. Thanks to Hoffmann he became head of design for Jacob & Josef Kohn in 1900 and was commissioned to design their exhibition space for the Paris World Exhibition 1900.
This suite was designed in 1899 for the Paris World Exhibition 1900 and was presented there for the first time. The seating group with the model number 715 was also published in “Das Interieur” 1901 and was exhibited at Turin in 1902 and 1904 in Milano. This version with brass feet and fabric is one of the earliest executions.
