The architect and painter Koloman Moser created some of the most impressive art objects of the Wiener Jugendstil. Especially his furniture designs are not only sought after by museums but also achieving high prices on the art market. The quality and the creative spirit behind these designs are celebrated in the whole world. At the time, the company J. & J. Kohn and the Brothers Thonet were the leading European manufacturers for furniture. This bench was made by J&J Kohn, probably around 1900. The stained and polished beech imitates tropical wood and the high-quality brass fixtures give the whole piece a great finish. Corner benches of the model 413 are particularly rare on the market.
