This airbrush template technique was created 1903 in the prosperity of the Wiener Jugendstil. We see a flowery meadow studded with yarrows in the play of lights and shadows under the leaves of old fruit trees. In the style of an arcadian idyll, we are enchanted by an almost romantic scene depictured in different hues of green. The artist impressively manages to portray a depth with the usage of a then modern and contemporary, decorative area style . The beholder is almost invited to hike through this scenery to discover the secrets and magic of the landscape.

Every single sheet of the series is a unique piece of art. Even though this technique is seen as a way of creating multiples, this object has not been printed in a classic way. Hand-crafted templates were being sprayed over with brushes through a sieve to create different effects depending on the distance of the sieve and the consistence of the colors. Even though the graphic base structure is the same, the changes that were achieved by Jungnickel with the help of his adaptions make every sheet unique. The edition was always very small. We assume that approximately ten versions of each motif exist. The artistic expense and the abrasion of the templates was very high.

This technique allowed Ludwig Heinrich Jungnickel his international breakthrough after he presented some of this works at the 2nd exhibition of the Wiener Secession. It is believed that he invented this particular technique. The critics of that time were very appealed by this invention.
