Born as the son of the landscape painter Carl Vinzens Moser, he attended the classes of Gabriel von Hack, Ludwig Herterich and Karl Raupp at the Academy in Munich in 1896. In the year 1902, he met the painter Max Kurzweil and started experimenting with wood cut techniques. Moser worked his whole life on the perfection of this very complex technique and became so famous for his skill that the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna regularly sent students to Bolzano to work with Carl Moser.
His most famous works depict animals, landscapes and women in their traditional clothing. This woodcut probably shows an Italian town near Verona. The scenery is very distinguishable due to its vibrant and strong colours.
