Luxury Design, Past & Present
Female depictions played a crucial role in the oeuvre of both Hagenauer-brothers since the very beginning of their careers. Throughout the years they created an incredible variety of sculptures, whose main motif were the female body. The range of these works varied from big to small, from erotic nudes to athletic poses and sophisticated character depictions. An important source of inspiration was the expressive dance and especially Josephine Baker, whom the Werkstätte Hagenauer dedicated a bespoke sculpture.
This female nude by Franz Hagenauer conveys a unique dynamic and elegance. The long, slender body is carried by a delicate foot alone. Franz Hagenauer creates a balance between minimalist body features and expressive pose.
