(Leo) Lesser Ury, born in 1861 in Birnbaum (today Poland) - died 1931 in Berlin
Ury is one of the very important artists of the german impressionsts. He was a member of the Berliner Secession (a big retrospective -exhibition in 1922). His subjects were landscapes, urban landscapes, and interior scenes. Ury is especially noted for his paintings of nocturnal cafe scenes and rainy streets.
