From the essence of natural surfaces, the artist inspires the substance of his
sculptures: Soft materials, raw or polished, which evolve in his hands.
Sensual shapes which curves, smooth and round, evoke the most often the feminine
body.
The Temporality is underlined by the scars and bumps that reflect the life story of
each piece.
In this work “Couple” Wang Keping translates artistically the sensuality
arising from the meeting of two bodies and two souls. Emerging from the
monumental material, two persons embrace as to better preserve the softness and
intimacy of their passion.
The sculpture, originally a blackened wood 45 cm, has been transcribed here in a
wonderful sculpture 2m20 high to mark the greatness of this eternal love.
Made of hammered brass and patinated, completely hammered by hand,
it faithfully translates the visual and aesthetic qualities of wood while providing a
lasting and monumental dimension.
