Luxury Design, Past & Present
For his so-called “Polyester Chairs” the Austrian artist Bernhard Hausegger works with discarded chairs. In search of new variations, he analysis the formal language of these objects. To change the original form and volume of each chair, he encases them with polyester - a material, which has lost significance today. But for Hausegger the material offers the possibility to make individual changes without destroying the initial objects, which remain preserved under the sculptural polyester shells he creates.
