Designers André Domin and Marcel Genevriere, also known by the one word moniker Dominique, began collaborating in the 1920s. Dominique quickly established itself; their early works in the Art Deco style were featured in trend-setting exhibitions such as the L’Exposition Internationale des Artes Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in 1925. They created furniture for the silver designer Jean Puiforcat and in 1926, Dominque, Pierre Chareau, Pierre Legrain, Raymond Templier and Jean Puiforcat formed the Groupe de Cinq. In 1933 the duo began working for the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique for whom they would design many ocean liner interiors.
