Beautiful set of four teak dining chairs by Johannes Andersen, manufactured by Uldum Mobelfabrik in Denmark around 1950.
These stunning pieces have a high quality teak base with beautiful organic shaped backrests. Together with the grey fabric upholstered seats they would make a truly outstanding addition to any (Scandinavian) modern interior.
In great original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
Johannes Andersen (1903-1991) was born in Denmark. In 1922 he had served his apprenticeship and got his certificate as a skilled cabinet maker and he worked for several years in various workshops. Gradually over these years Johannes designed more and more pieces of furniture, and in the middle of the 1930s he started his own architectural workshop. Danish furniture began to be internationally reputed. Johannes also got appointments with Swedish and Norwegian furniture factories. But the great Boom was for him when the Danish working class during the late 1950s and up through the 1960s began to get better off and move into new houses and buy new furniture. Johannes' best known designs are coffee table in a almost innumerable variations. So when Johannes at the age of more than 80 closed down his drawing office he had become a worldwide known and appreciated furniture designer.
