Luxury Design, Past & Present
This stylized head of an Asian man, made of brass and blackened wood, is produced by the Viennese Hagenauer Werkstätte (Wien, Austria) around 1930. This rare piece is marked on the bottom (see photo).
The Hagenauer Werkstätte focused on human and animal forms during the Art Deco period. The two Hagenauer brothers Karl and Franz produced rare and memorable stylized designs like this Asian man. They worked in cast bronze, brass and wood. These influential works are very collectible today.
