Luxury Design, Past & Present
This lamp designed by Edouard-Wilfred Buquet (1886-?) is probably the most sought-after French Modernist lamp. It is designed like a Calder mobile as its two arms are fully balanced by adjustable weights. It was designed in 1927 and patented. It was then produced by Buquet himself until the end of the 30's.
It is made of nickel plated brass, the base is made of ebonized wood (relacquered).
It is signed under the base with the typical Buquet metal plate marked: "BUQUET Bté SGDG Paris".
This is an original piece (circa 1930).
Fully functional, very good condition with only 2 slight distorsions on the arms (see pictures).
Wiring has been renewed, wired for European use.
This model has been reproduced by Technolumen from the 80's with slight adaptations.
Dimensions: wood base diam : 14.5cm; lower arm : 58cm; upper arm: 65cm; shade diam: 12cm; average height: +/- 80cm
