AOF means "Afrique Occidentale Française" (West French Africa) which was a federation of 8 French colonies between 1895 and 1958. It was constituted of Mauritania, Senegal, French Soudan (now Mali), Guinea, Ivory Coast, Niger, Haute-Volta (now Burkina Faso), Togo and Dahomey (now Benin).
