Luxury Design, Past & Present
This c. 1930's Spratling design measures 3 5/8" across and 3 1/4" high & weighs 261 grams. Phyllis Goddard's description on her spratling site describes it in great detail ~ "Silver and copper circular powder box sits on a slightly domed base...decorated with bands of chased flat circles...set at a diagonal flanked by two incised lines. Each segment is separated by diagonal flat copper bands. The domed and tiered detachable lid is surmounted by a large silver ball. At the base of the ball is a twisted rope design of copper and silver. This is the only powder box design listed in any of Spratling's wholesale catalogues, and it appeared only once." ~ Beautful vintage condition & patina. Two pin-head size scuffs noted on the top ball.
