This exquisite vintage 1950's piece marries 970 sterling silver & inlaid black obsidian into a wearable work of art. Designed by Taxco, Mexico modernist Antonio Pineda (1919-2009)the balance is both sensual & strong. Weighing 130 grams the wearable length is 16" X 1" at it's widest. The necklace is in beautiful condition & fully hallmarked for Antonio as pictured. The intricate construction is fascinating & beautiful to study as well. We have not seen this rare design in our 30 years of collecting & handling Mexican silver. Antonio designs are included in many permanent museum collections including LACMA.
