Rare sterling silver vase designed & signed c. 1940's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). Heavy at 361 grams this sculptural design features scroll handles & and an exquisite hand hammered interior. This urn shaped design stands 6 inches tall & 3 1/2 inches across. Beautiful condition & patina with no dents, dings or repairs. This Spratling vase design was featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE & is pictured on p. 230 of the museum catalog of the same title by Penny Morrill. Spratling designs are included in several museum collections around the world including the permanent 20th century Mexican silver collection at LACMA.
