Rare vintage hand wrought yellow jasper and sterling silver necklace designed & signed circa 1950's by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67).
Pendant with vintage chain weighs 63 grams. The four channel set stones are in beautiful condition with a fine matrix. Hallmarked on reverse WS, William Spratling, eagle # 30. Both silver and stones are in beautiful condition. This design was included in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE and is pictured on p. 150 & p. 210 of the book by the same name by Penny Morrill. Spratling designs are featured in the permanent 20th century museum collection at LACMA.
