Creamware large sauce tureen, cover stand and ladle each decorated in puce transfer with figures amongst classic ruins. The rims also with a feathered puce border highlighted with the strong remnants of original gilding.

Dimensions: 7 inches high x 10 1/2 inches wide x 7 1/4 inches;
The underdish: 10 1/2 inches by 7 1/4 inches;
The tureen 8 1/2 inches wide x 6 inches x 7 inches high

The author writes on page 133 that shell-edged wares and other enamelled rim-decorated wares in turquoise, puce or black, often embellished with a central transfer-printed panel, constituted a sizable portion of the decoration on creamware...
