The presented chess seems to be the earliest version of the workshops chess boards. The carefully carved pieces are stunning by their simple and modernist expression. Each is expertly worked from one massive piece of cow horn.

All 32 chessmen are present and in sound condition. The leather board bears a nice patina, some of the mounted squares have slightly loose ends or show dark stains since the set up board seams to have been used as a decorative object.
