Luxury Design, Past & Present
A beautiful and artistic chrysoberyl ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! The smoothly polished cat's eye chrysoberyl cabochon is bezel set at the center of a decorative mounting. The chrysoberyl stone displays an earthy natural color with an alluring iridescent property. When turned in the light, the stone emits a shimmery flash at the center, which is visible as a vertical band that forms a "cat's eye" when caught in the light! The exquisite handmade mounting is comprised of gorgeous filigree wirework, which flows along the shoulders of the ring. Completing the design is a twisted rope border surrounding the chrysoberyl, and a stacked wire band at the back. A wonderful example of Art Nouveau era jewelry, this beautiful ring would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of a scant 6.5, but could be resized up or down if necessary. The centerpiece of the ring measures approximately 1/2" tall and 3/4" wide. The stone itself measures approximately 9mm in size.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is in excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold filigree setting. The cat's eye chrysoberyl is intact and securely set. There is a natural patina present on the surface of the gold setting, which is normal for an antique piece, resting in the grooves of the wirework and adding depth to the design.
