Luxury Design, Past & Present
This faux painted wooden vintage French obelisk circa 1950 used as a theatrical prop exhibits the grand proportions seen in architectural examples. The scale and symmetry are quite pleasing as is the combination of colours used to resemble antique slabs of marble. Notice how the burnished gold leaf adds a subtle reflective gleam to the moulding in contrast to the deep rich painting. Because the obelisk was constructed out of wood it has a substantial weight and will remain placed without worry. The large scale of this French obelisk is quite striking in person and will be a focal point in an interior where a dramatic and unexpected element is desired.
