Trio of Fine Chinese Export Paintings on Mulberry Pith Paper, 19th Century - image 1 of 15

A group of three exceptional gouache portraits of Chinese nobles, two ladies and a gentleman, each outfitted in embroidered finery. Colors are remarkably vivid, and the details beautifully intricate and astonishingly meticulous. Condition is good, light undulation to the mulberry paper, (also known as rice paper), some typical splits, not particularly noticeable, with slivers of inpainting where they occur. Very nicely matted and framed in dark camel and gold, with original salmon silk ribbon surrounds showing. Frames in excellent condition. Provenance: Argosy, New York, NY, private collection.
