Luxury Design, Past & Present
A lovely set of four hand colored copperplate engravings on laid paper from the 1727 publication by Baron Friedrich Wilhelm con Reis Eisenberg, (1700- ?ca. 1770), a nobleman and equestrian expert who did the rounds of the courts of Europe, instructing riders in the advanced cavalry moves which became today’s dressage. His illustrated instruction manual to the art of dressage was published in London in 1727, containing illustrations drawn by the Baron himself and engraved by Bernard Picart (1673-1733). Light discoloration along the top edges of the plates, otherwise, nice condition.
