Pair of 18th Century Sepia Landscape Engravings After Claude Lorrain - image 1 of 12

A nicely framed pair of original 18th century engraved versions of original drawings by the 17th century French Old Master artist Claude Lorrain, from the collection of the Duke of Devonshire. Depicted are bucolic scenes of country life and seaside activities, rendered in painterly sepia wash coloring on wove paper. The pair include plates: 44 and 52. The release of these engravings etched by Robert Earlom and published by John Boydell, was in 1774. The plates are in very good condition with deep, clear plate marks. The frames have an attractively antiqued gilded finish and green velvet matting.
