Very good quality knotted wool pile carpet on a cotton foundation, modern, with good even coloring in a classic French pattern of acanthus scrolls, medallions and garlands. Good details and well proportioned design elements. The half toned checkered pattern is one of the most notably authentic details inspired by documented antique Savonnerie carpets. Clean. New or near new. Slight irregularities, as made. Various shades of green, light blue, rose, tan, cream, brown, with a black background in the center and corner quadrants. Origin unknown, likely Chinese made.
