Luxury Design, Past & Present
An American Federal chest of drawers with unusual triple diamond string inlay across the top drawer, inspired by English Regency inlaid furniture; the case resting on outswept French feet. The drawers are of a pale golden cherry with a lustrous ripple to the timber carried through, top to bottom. The darker mahogany veneered case front gives the piece a subtle two tone contrast, some slightly burled timber giving the mahogany some liveliness, especially in the cupid’s bow apron. Early 19th century. Antique brass hardware of appropriate form, possibly not original.
