A beautiful pair of Meiji Period polished bronze vases adapted into lamps, with bold and skillful relief decoration of birds and tree branches encircling the whole. The flat rims of the vases are finished with a low relief Greek key frieze and the carved wooden bases are ebonized. Late 19th-early 20th century. Black corset drum shades. Very good condition: surface irregularities as made, variations in patina.
