Luxury Design, Past & Present
A fine quality Persian wool rug of charming design, with regionally specific design details of both dense and intertwined elements: intertwined trees containing birds perched throughout. Kirman carpets (also sometimes spelled Kerman) come from south central Iran. In this rug, a leopard rests at the base with rabbits and antelope. The borders hold more animals in a frieze-like format, with ducks, foxes, antelope, and most notably, black and white hunting dogs. Early 20th century. Vivid coloring, faint tread wear at on end.
