A magnificent and large pair of terra-cotta horses, saddled and caparisoned, glazed in the traditional Sancai colors of ochre, green and blue. A variety of auspicious and decorative pottery animals were traditionally made as architectural decorations and these dramatic horses fall into that category. Early 20th century. Good condition, with typical irregularities, craquelure and imperfections, as made. No marks.
