Luxury Design, Past & Present
A large and striking pair of porcelain cranes, modeled in beautiful and precise detail: feathers, legs, the imaginative “wood” of the porcelain stumps they stand on are all exquisitely textured. The actual red-crowned crane is a rare and very large East Asian bird, and a traditional symbol of good fortune and longevity in Chinese art. These date to ca. 1900. Bearing an impressed character mark in the porcelain on the base of each. Excellent condition, normal irregularities to the surface and glazes, as made.
