Luxury Design, Past & Present
A graceful French black painted and parcel gilt occasional table on cabriole legs ending in pied de biche feet dating probably to the second quarter of the 19th century. This table was made to fit the slightly earlier, ca. 1820, Chinese lacquer tray which forms the top. Delicate gilt detail decorates the black lacquer ground of the tray which features a floral and rockery composition with birds executed in gilding and dark cinnabar red. Condition: stable craquelure to the top, typical losses to the gilding on the legs and feet.
