Luxury Design, Past & Present
From the distinguished collection of Consuelo Vanderbilt Earl (1903-2011) who’s namesake was her aunt, Consuelo Vanderbilt, Duchess of Marlborough. Consuelo Vanderbilt Earl’s heritage was colorful and prominent not just on her father’s Vanderbilt side, but also on her mother, Virginia Fairs’ side, with a fortune in her own right as an heiress of the Comstock Lode. A fine serpentine carved oak wall mounted console, ca. 1780, with an open frieze, and a boldly carved pendant laurel swag going around front and sides. Carved stiles are inswept to buttress against the wall, at the acanthus carved terminal. Good antique condition, with typical signs of age, wear.
