A large and finely decorated punch bowl in the Rose Mandarin pattern, a compositionally more complex version of the Rose Medallion pattern, depicting many figured palace court scenes alternating with airy wild rose and pheasant reserves. Notable is the brightly gilded background to the foliage and fruit laden interstices. Crisp painting with good detail is found throughout, especially in the gilt decorations adorning hats and hairstyles. Late 19th century. The center of the interior has the most complex multi-figural scene; there is fading wear from use here, mainly affecting the black and gilded hair of the of these figures, the faces are still clearly delineated. Spider hairline to the bottom.
