Luxury Design, Past & Present
Offered is a Trio of Mitchell, Vance & Co Brass Sconces with Aurene Quezal Trumpet Shades. Made about 1910 to 1920.
Understated in their elegance, they feature an oval back-plate with an arched tubular arm, leading to a signed Quezal aurene trumpet shade. One retains all of the original manufacturing stickers from Mitchell, Vance & Co, and one is missing them all, as they dry up and fall off. The G.E.Co bakelite turn-key, mica interior sockets are all original and in perfect condition.
They originally appear to have been designed to mount with the shades facing up, and they can be installed either way depending on the mounting bracket used (will be provided). Each originally used a gasket (included) to mount between the sconce and the wall, and the pins at top and bottom are to hold the gasket. The gasket is not required, but the pins are loose (we mention this only to be sure you are aware). The patina is all original
They slightly vary in their overall finished height, but they are about 10-3/8"H x 5"W overall. The back-plates are about 6-1/4"H x 4-1/2"W. The shades are about 5"H x 4-7/8"W.
