Luxury Design, Past & Present
Offered is a set of 3 ornate solid bronze wall sconces with Imperial carnival glass shades. These are very high quality fixtures, made of heavy cast oil-rubbed bronze (the dark patina is all original). From the back plates to the very heavy-duty shade holders, these are among the highest quality made in their time, about 1910.
Their style is considerably Mission, but not in the strictest sense. The tubes are square and intermittent backs are square, which screams mission. The back-plates are fancy, as are the fitters and finials. These are nothing short of fantastic, and will work with Mission, Arts & Crafts, Tudor or Gothic style decors.
The condition is excellent, with minor age related wear. They have been fully rewired and all new mounting hardware installed. One of the original BRYANT fat-boy bakelite turnkey socket interiors has been replaced with a WEBER.
They measure about 13-1/2"H x 4-1/2"W at the shades, and 3-7/8" at the back plates. The back plates measure 9-7/8"H, and the sconces stand about 7 to 8" off the wall depending on how close they are mounted.
