(Albert) Gordon Thomas, (1893-1970) was born in Glasgow and studied at Glasgow School of Art, winning the Haldane Travelling Scholarship and studying under Maurice Gereiffenhagen. He was both a commercial artist and a teacher. As well as being a member of the Milngavie and Glasgow Art Clubs, with whom he frequently exhibited, he was made a member of the Royal Scottish Watercolourists in 1936.
