Fine pair of bronzes known as 'horse tamers' or 'horses restrained by grooms'. After the original by Guillaume Coustou the Elder (1677-1746). The original pair were commissioned for Chateau de Marly in 1739 and made in solid marble and now reside in the Louvre Museum, Paris, France. This pair are finely cast and carry great patination. French circa 1880.
