Luxury Design, Past & Present

A Victorian amethyst riviere necklace, the nineteen graduated oval mixed-cut amethysts, measuring from 15x10mm to 22.2 x16.2mm, each cut down collet set to yellow gold mounts, set with gold snap clasp, circa 1870, measuring approximately 37cm long, gross weight 52.82grams.

This impressive and alluring late Victorian necklace comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Amethyst was a popular stone in the Victorian period, treasured for its colour and faceted shine. Featuring nineteen bold amethyst stones set in gold, this feminine necklace recalls the glamour of a candlelit ball and a silk ballgown. This antique piece would look equally as lovely with a contemporary evening dress, worn to a black-tie event.

This antique necklace is in very good condition for its age. Marked 9ct gold.
