This antique brooch is in excellent condition for its age.
This lovely French brooch was made in around 1890, during the Belle Epoque period. This brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and was created in the neoclassical style. The central eagle holds a lively diamond in its claws and is surrounded by meander or Greek key motifs as well as swags of gold culminating in a lustrous pearl. This wonderful brooch wonderfully incorporates both naturalistic and neoclassical motifs.
